A water‑(or ground‑)source heat pump unit is an energy‑efficient device that harnesses low‑grade thermal energy from groundwater, surface water, soil, or industrial wastewater and elevates it to a higher temperature level using a compressor and a heat‑exchange system. Compared with air‑source heat pumps, it is unaffected by outdoor temperature fluctuations, operates stably throughout the year, and delivers a higher coefficient of performance. It is widely used in central air‑conditioning systems for office buildings, shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, schools, residential complexes, and more, and can also be employed for industrial waste‑heat recovery and agricultural temperature‑controlled applications.
An air-source heat pump unit is an energy‑efficient heating and cooling system that harnesses the reverse Carnot cycle to extract low‑grade thermal energy from outdoor air and, through the work of a compressor, upgrade it to high‑grade thermal energy. By consuming only a small amount of electricity, it can “transfer” 3 to 6 times its electrical input in the form of heat or cold, enabling dual functionality: in summer, it supplies chilled water to central air‑conditioning terminals for cooling, and in winter, it provides hot water for space heating.
